    This last week I attended the National Association of Independent Schools conference in Manhattan. The conference focused on the idea that schools needed to support learning in ways beyond the teaching of "analytical" intelligence, but also foster the "creative and practical" intelligences as posited by Bob Sternberg and Howard Gardner. Speakers such as Sir Ken Robinson and Daniel Pink talked convincingly about how schools need to teach to both sides of the brain and lamented the fact that creativity as measured by researchers such as Paul Torrance have found that creativity actually diminishes with more schooling.
