I'm finally getting around to filling everyone in on just what I was doing the weekend of November 11th-13th- I'm sure all of my blog readers have been waiting with baited breath! Was it worth it to go through NYC airports 4 times in as many days? Did the high adrenaline weekend last me from game, to Open House and Financial Aid Workshop, back to game? Did I get injured? How did the team do?
I am happy to report that on Friday, the 11th the New York Rugby Club crushed the D.C. Furies 20-5. Since there were no injuries, yours truly was reserved for the big match on ...continue reading…

Our Financial Aid Workshop was a huge success! Nearly 90 families were RSVP'd and a total of approximately 150 people joined us in our Dining Room on Saturday to discuss the financial aid application process. In addition to letting families know how the SSS by NAIS system will calculate their need, I talked about how families can organize themselves for the beginning of the process and what they might expect at the end. I also told families some of the important questions that they might want to ask about financial aid while looking at schools and answered them for the crowd as they pertained to Riverdale. We finished the session by taking

Yesterday the following letter was emailed to all current Riverdale families: November 7, 2011 Dear Riverdale Families, I am writing to share some information about Riverdale’s financial aid program with you. A Riverdale education is a tremendous gift for which all families make sacrifices. As a school, we are committed to making such an education accessible to families at various income levels. About 20% of the students at Riverdale receive financial aid grants. Our financial aid program is fully need-based, like those of other independent schools. We do not give scholarships for academic or athletic merit, but rather award needed grants to families who cannot afford the full tuition. We also allocate financial aid funds towards our co-curricular programs. We want to ensure that ...

A very Happy Halloween to you all!

Most colleges who have Early Action or Early Decision admission practices will want to receive completed finanical aid applications by November 1st- generally this includes not just the completed Profile, but also a completed Non-Custodial Parent ...continue reading…

One of the things that I enjoy about my work is getting to know my students and their families well through the financial aid process. For Riverdale students who take advantage of Riverdale's many co-curricular programs, I am often privy to the details of my student's interests- from the Lower School student who can't get enough of the Riverclub cooking classes, to the Upper School student who is a three-sport athlete- I often get brought into conversations about my students' activities when they seek financial aid towards them.
Many of my families also know some of my passions, most notably the fact that I've been playing competitive rugby for the last decade, and often ask how ...continue reading…
