Local Author Visits Early Learning Classes

[ April 25, 2014 ]

Andrew Kranichfeld, a local children’s book author, recently visited the students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 2 to discuss Karen’s Garden, the book he wrote as a tribute to his mother.

Andrew told the students that the entire book is true, “even the crazy parts.” He said he hopes the book will introduce the children to the joys of growing their own gardens. In the book, children learn about gardening basics while enjoying the illustrations of flowers, fruits, and vegetables that were drawn by Andrew’s friend, illustrator Andres A. Pratts.

Karen’s Garden has been translated into Spanish; Andrew, who is blind, said he would love to make a Braille version with the art embossed so that blind people can feel the drawings.
