Middle School Color Games Culminate in 8th Annual Field Day Fun

[ May 22, 2014 ]

Students in Grades 6 and 7 enjoyed a day of sports and games during the Middle School’s 8th Annual Field Day.

A Middle School tradition, Color Games is a year-long physical education activity. Students in grades 6 and 7 are divided into four teams (Green, Red, Orange, and Blue) and throughout the course of the year the teams compete in a variety of sports, earning points for their efforts. Each May, the Color Games come to an exciting conclusion with the Middle School’s Annual Field Day.

“Color Games ended its regular season with Blue having a commanding lead of 320 total points, followed by Orange with 253, Green with 245, and Red with 199 points,” says Doug McDonald, Chair of Physical Education. “Field Day was the final day of all Color Games activities and it was a close match as the day started. Orange won Rounds 1 and 2 of the sporting events and Red finished with a very strong Round 3 win.” Sporting events included kickball, soccer, Frisbee, lacrosse, softball, volleyball, and floor hockey. Afternoon games included tug-of-war, a relay race, and an obstacle course.

When the final results were tallied, Blue won its fifth consecutive title with a total of 568 points. “When asked about his team’s performance, Coach T.J. Barnett only put up his thumb, saying, ‘I have no more fingers, this one’s for the thumb,’” according to Doug.

Orange placed second (512 points), Red finished third (476 points), and Green came in fourth (387 points). Doug is the coach of the Orange team; Coach Manisha Doran is the Red team’s captain; and Coach P (Carol Pouliot) is the captain of the Green team.
